The Fender Jazz Master, Mustang, and Jaguar

I thought I would at least acknowledge other Fender guitars if neither the Strat or Tele was pleasing. So these are other guitars that bear the Fender name.

This is the Fender Jazz Master. Famous people who have used the mutt guitar are Mark Hoppus of BLINK-182, Shakira, Bruno Mars, and Gym Class Heroes. This guitar is considered by many to be the Strats ugly cousin but is very good for Jazz and Punk Rock or any other music with a hard driven Guitar.

This is another cousin of the Strat and Tele, the Fender Jaguar. Introduced in 1962, with a tremolo lock, and numerous switches and knobs to get the tone that no other guitar could achieve at the time. This guitar has lasted through the years due tosomeof the famous guitarist that has said their guitar isn't all looks. Many including David Gray, Paramore, and the late Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.

The last guitar I'm gonna mention is the Fender Mustang, introduced in the year of 1965. This was originally the new guitar of awesomness but it took nearly 20 years for people to ealy see its entire range. This guitar has been slung over the shoulders of Kurt Cobain and David Byrne. Along as being frequently used by the bands of OAR (Of A Revolution), Primus (Yes the guitar used in the south park theme is a Mustang), and Cage The Elephant.

While these guitars may not be the prettiest or the best for you specifically, each guitar has its style and before you rulle out one guitar always play it first because with each guitar played is a new style of music.

Reviews On Telecaster

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/electric_guitars/fender/standard_telecaster/index.html
These are just reviews of the Fender Standard Telecaster. The reviews are fair and it is mainly focused on the good of the Telecaster, not really the bad. But if you are starting to learn how to play, this would be very helpful to learn the potentiality of the guitar that is the Telecaster.

Eric Clapton preferred choice of Fender

http://learningguitarnow.com/blog/blues-guitar/eric-clapton-speaks-best-blues-guitar-gibson-or-fender/
In this article Eric Clapton talks about why he eventually picked up the Fender Stratocaster and many of the good features about it. He also mentions about how Leo Fender, founder of Fender Guitars, created a perfect instrument that can't be any better. Which is why he prefers the Strat. Obviously this is more targeted to promote the Stratocaster, but he does mention how he changed the Pick Ups on  the guitar to a more active style to get more unique sounds (I gues when you are a guitar rock legend you can do that) and the way he ends it sums it up entirely " I would challenge anybody to come up with a better design for a guitar. The Stratocaster is as good as it gets, isn’t it?" -Eric Clapton

Information on Both Guitars

http://www.guitarsite.com/newsletters/000327/20.shtml
This article show great perspectives from both sides of the spectrum. Both guitars have unique personalities and while it seems the author, Robert Lee John, is slightly torwards the Telecaster (to me that is) the article is clear of bias and/or slant. The main differences that Mr. Lee John points out are that the Stratocaster (Strat) has a 5-way switch whereas the Telecaster (Tele) has only a 3-way switch. Both provide many different tone qualities. However he also points out that many people play different types of music on both kinds of guitars.
Overall this is a good article.
